  • Comfort Day at Laurel Lake Retirement Community
Comfort day is a day of extra care and pampering for some of the lady residents who have special needs and may not be able to express what they would like to do for their own dream.
  • Edith lost everything in Katrina and really missed her own home.  Our dreamweavers found out her favorite colors and did a makeover on her room with all the things that make a room feel like home!
  • Jack, who has a theatrical background, likes to stand out in a group. He also has a love of poetry, and is very proud of his granddaughter who is a poet. After attending a poetry reading that was one of our regular activities, he voiced a request to do his own poetry reading, where he could speak about his life and share a variety of poetry, including his granddaughters. Consequently, we invited him to be a guest speaker at a special poetry reading event. As part of that, he let us know exactly what he needed for the event, which included a table with lighting, an assistant's chair (and an assistant), tablecloth, microphone, cookies and punch for the guests, and large print copies of the poetry. This was very meaningful to Jack, and after a month he is still saying thank you to the staff for having him as our guest. It was definitely a highlight of his life to have a chance to share and shine in the spotlight once again. He has offered to be a guest speaker again in the future.
  • Paul receiving his CD Player, bible, and gospel music.
  • The parade took place on Veteran's Day in Southern Las Vegas.  The residents proudly rode on the float designed by Manor Care Staff.  It was a bit chilly, but the weathered the chill as well as the long wait to take their place in line.  It was a fun day for all!
  • Shadow Boxes allow residents of Homestead to display treasures and memories that tell a story of their life.
  • Homestead Nursing Residents are treated to a Valentine's Day party courtesy of Henry County Extension.
  • Henry County Extension in Kentucky built raised gardens for the residents of Homestead Nursing Home so they could enjoy growing their favorite vegetables and flowers.
  • ABC Builders gave a facelift to the resident courtyard so that they could enjoy the outdoors.
