  • Betty was overcome with joy when meeting Hall of Famer Mel Blount. When he asked her for her name, she burst into tears. Mr. Blount talked with Betty and told her his stories of overcoming obstacles in order to build The Mel Blount Youth Home.
  • Sadie finally received the trip to Savannah and had the experience of taking the train and sleeping in a sleeping car.
  • Lisa, her activities aide, and nurse all enjoyed Lisa's dream of going to Graceland. They spent 3 hours in Elvis' mansion.  She can't stop talking about her trip! 
  • Marion's dream of going to the mountains came true on Monday, April 25th.  It completely brightened Marion's day. Everyone had a wonderful trip!
  • Last week, in the presence of family, friends and and the local High School choir, and dressed in full cap & gown, Mary proudly walked down the aisle to receive her honorary diploma. CONGRATULATIONS MARY on all your life's accomplishments!

  • She bought a book from the gift shop so that she would always remember her trip. She was very excited that she was able to go. It really meant a lot to her, she was all smiles and kept on thanking me on the way home.

  • Joan at her first birthday party! The staff came together and supplied all that was needed for a special birthday party for Joan, which included her resident friends, staff and family members.

  • <h3><span>Luther  a 90 year old resident of Ashwood Place had a dream that he thought he  had left behind.  His dream was to be Governor of Kentucky.  Today that  dream was fulfilled with help from Ashwood Place, Equestrian Limousine,  and Digital Expressions.   Luther rode in a long white limo to the  Governor's entrance of the Capi<span>...</span><span>tol  where he was escorted to the Governor's office.  There he met Governor  Steve Beshear and was presented with a Kentucky Colonel.  After that he  was given a tour of the Capitol.</span></span></h3>
  • Earl always dreamed of what it might be like if he could take a flight and see what the clouds looked like from above.  His wish was granted when he flew to Boston via Spirit Airlines on November 3, 2010. He was given a tour of the cockpit by the Captain and was welcomed with a round of applause by all the passengers when they learned his wish was granted.
  • Anna’s dream was fulfilled to go to the beach on Sept. 30<sup>th</sup>, 2010.  Our facility  sent her off around 9:30 am.  She was so excited.  Her father, mother and sister n law came to see her off.;  Her mother however, traveled with us to the beach.  We painted the windows on our facility van and released balloons in her honor.  Anna’s eyes gleamed with delight when she saw the ocean.   Anna stated that she never thought her dream would come true.  Seeing Anna smile was worth it all!

  • This elder from Timberview Healthcare in Gary, Indiana, dreamed of being a Fireman and thanks to the Horseshoe Hammond Heroes, his dream came true as he was made an Honorary Fireman by the Gary Indiana Fire Department!
  • Pauline wanted to meet a sitting democratic president and while on the campaign trail, now President Barrack Obama graciously spent a few minutes with our dreamer.
  • This elder always wanted to swim with dolphins.  Thanks to Sea World, his dream was fulfilled!
  • Sheilia Silverstein at 73, still dreamed of graduating from High School.  She said her family would be so proud to know that she was able to receive her diploma.   • Geri is a self taught artist who had made paintings for many family members and friends - but had never had a public showing of her remarkable talent.  With the help of family and friends, Geri was surprised with her very own
  • Ann Kampwerth is a resident of Carlyle Healthcare Center in Carlyle, IL.  She is 108 years old! She said she wished she had graduated from high school as she believes that education is a key to a good life, you should never stop learning. We hooked up with the local newspaper and the high school and she was presented an honorary high school diploma yesterday! It was a moving experience. We played pomp and circumstance in the background and all of her children were here and the Carlyle High School Principal presented her with her diploma. She was ecstatic and wore her graduation cap and gown for most of the afternoon.  Dreams really do come true - no matter your age or circumstance!
  • Theresa Arambula, 69, dreamed of graduating from High School.  With family, friends and alumni present, she received a diploma of life long learning from the school district she had attending in 1959.
  • Anna, from Senior Services North Fulton in Metro Atlanta, proudly displays her art that she donated to the Senior Art Auction, an annual fund raiser in conjunction with 'Celebration of Dreams'.
  • This resident in India dreamed of having his own voice recorded as he sang songs that he had written over the years. He was thrilled to be able to give them to his family and to listen to them in his room. The recording concert was enjoyed by all of the residents.
  • Kay, 92 had attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison, in 1920 for two years and had never gotten to graduate, UNTIL Second Wind Dreams contacted the Alumni Association and they made her honorary alumni. We had the cap and gown, pomp and circumstance and she even found another UW grad who lived in her same nursing home. What a day.
  • Catherine, 99 at Lutheran Towers (GA) was an elder in the United Methodist Church and taught and mentored many young men and women.  Her regret turned into her dream, She wished she had graduated from Emory University. She was one of the first four women attending Emory in 1927 in a certificate class.  She is the newest member of the class of 1928.
  • 86-year-old Virginia from West Virginia had always dreamed of conducting a Symphony Orchestra. She had played in one in her younger years. The Wheeling, WV Symphony was delighted to make this dream come true.
