DREAM ADVOCACY SPECIALIST

Second Wind Dreams, Inc. (secondwind.org), a dynamic non-profit organization, is seeking an experienced Dream Advocacy Specialist to handle applications for assistance from eldercare communities (nursing homes and assisted living facilities) seeking to fulfill the dreams of their residents.  This is a part-time, position with no health benefits.  Offices are located in Marietta, Georgia.  Local applicants only please.

  •  In this position, the successful candidate will be responsible for processing dream applications and maintaining relationships with eldercare communities from a number of different states. This work will involve taking our applicants from the initial screening process through to the final stage of the application process, performing due diligence on documentation received, and providing updates to applicants through the documentation stage of the application process. Specifically, the successful candidate for this position will work to:

    • Pre-screen applications for assistance online, determine whether or not the application meets Second Wind Dreams’ guidelines, and make decisions regarding each application, on a case-by-case basis;

    • Make appropriate decisions regarding which documentation is necessary for an individual application, review documentation packets received from applicants online and make appropriate phone calls to verify information that the applicant has provided;

    • Guide eldercare communities through the application process by answering their questions via emails or phone. Answer general questions about the application process when necessary;
  • Input Outcome Measurements in EXCell.  Outcome measurement forms come from the eldercare communities with detail about the dream that came true.  The forms are established but need to be maintained.
  •  Maintaining Inventory of goods.  Inventory management includes ordering collaterals and educational materials as well as office supplies as needed. 
     
  • Data Base Management.  These are established but need to be maintained.   
     
  • Maintaining and management of social sites and networking.  Sites are established but need to me updated regularly. 
     
  • Mailings ( with volunteer assistance)  Newsletters, VDT, Membership manuals.
     
  • VDT assembly and packaging (with volunteer assistance)
  • Quarterly Newsletter layout
  • Assist with answering telephones and general questions when necessary
  • Perform related duties as assigned.


    Qualifications:

    This opportunity is best suited for an efficient, independent, flexible, and energetic individual who is genuinely interested in the non-profit world and in assisting nursing home and assisted living residents realize their dreams. The ideal candidate for this position must have:

    • A Bachelor’s degree OR at least two years non-profit experience serving members or clients.  A humanities background is preferred.

    • Excellent knowledge of MS Office applications, especially Excel.  Experience in establishing and maintaining e-mail and donor databases is a plus.

 • Excellent critical thinking and decision-making skills.

• Excellent online web and research capabilities to ensure the rapid processing of applications.

• Excellent phone etiquette along with having the ability to communicate with the public in a professional and courteous manner.

• Knowledge of standard office practices and procedures.
